Getting to the Plateau
Sal Plateau is located near the famous Uzungöl in Trabzon. However, this time we’ve planned our route through the Çamlıhemşin district of Rize. After traveling by vehicle for a while, we took a short nature walk that brought our guests even closer to the plateau. Along the way, we were accompanied by the sounds of birds chirping and the scent of pine trees.
First Impressions of Sal Plateau
Upon stepping onto the plateau, you are greeted by cool air and expansive green landscapes. The wooden houses nestled among the clouds are in perfect harmony with nature, resembling a fairy tale world. Compared to other plateaus, Sal Plateau is less crowded, making it an attractive stop for nature lovers.
Local Flavors and Warm Hospitality
Another enchanting part of our tour was the encounter with local flavors. The local people who live on the plateau hosted us with their warm hospitality. We didn’t miss the opportunity to try the famous Black Sea “mihlama,” bread fried in butter, and fresh dairy products. Each bite reminded us of the pure flavors that nature offers.
A Day Above the Clouds
We spent our time on the plateau taking plenty of photos, exploring the surroundings with short walks, and fully embracing the tranquility. One of the most special moments in Sal Plateau was the view that made you feel like you were above the clouds. During sunset, as the sky turned red and golden, the plateau resembled a painting by an artist.
